3D Projects Commission Changes %5----%15

Discussion started by kansud

It is difficult to understand why such a large increase was made in the Commission. What do you think about increasing the commission amount by 10% despite the reduction in the service provided?

Wait, what? Are you saying that cgtrader secretly reduced commission rates for freelancing projects from 95% to 85%? Without single announcement and explanation? Surely that can't be right.

"11.3. CGTrader fee is equal to 5% (five percent) of the fee paid by the Buyer to the Designer. Upon conclusion of the Contract, CGTrader will calculate and pay royalties to Designer after having deducted VAT, payment processing costs and CGTrader fee." doesn't look that something has changed in cgtrader terms and conditions regards freelance projects fee. Care to explain what you mean by commission changes?

Please check the emails sent by cgtrader. The site says it will switch to 15% commission as of May 20.

I didn't receive any e-mails with information regarding this change yet, but if what you're saying is true, i will seriously consider persuading my clients to move our collaboration outside of cgtrader. 5% fee was adequate, but 15 is way too high for the service and particularly quality they provide, or the absence of it to be precise. I find it unacceptable to increase the fee 3 times without showing a signs for intention to making life better for creators, or addressing long standing bugs. Unacceptable.

“In our commitment to supporting enhancements and ensuring the sustainability of this service, we are increasing the commission CGTrader receives from 5% to 15% for new jobs posted starting from May 20th (upon the successful completion of these new projects)”

This makes me so sad! is absolutely unacceptable 15% it too much, this is going to affect so many people.
So 15%+transfer fees+taxes ITS TOO MUCH!
cgtrader please reconsider this! neither us who have worked with cgtrader so many years and the clients would find it acceptable. people will just look for other ways to get payment!

I believe that some freelancing platforms have already gone this route. As a result, they were forced to make a fee lower than before the increase to stop migration from their platform. As someone said - one platform fault is another opportunity

I have felt comfortable on this platform and I even have clients that I got from other places to make the projects through cgtrader. I am not sure clients will be happy to pay the extra 15%. It would be a shame if i am forced to go look for other platforms or have to directly receive funds. can you give some examples of platforms that were forced to lower it?

I can't write it here - as it will be advertisement of them. But I don't tink you will have difficulties to find whats happened on the freelance market started from the Elance platform, which is lready dead

For about 4 years, I have convinced dozens of customers who have never heard of Cgtrader before, to do their projects through Cgtrader.
This decision of Cgtrader saddened me and will upset my regular customers.

I would like to remind Cgtrader the saying "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" because most designers will most likely have to raise their project offers due to this commission increase and most customers will move away from Cgtrader for this reason.
I hope it doesn't turn out the way I think it will.

First they introduce Hyperwallet with stupid fees, then add extra fees for projects.
And yes, this means that the overall sales actually drop. It's likely global. If the sales didn't drop, they wouldn't need extra money. But this of course will prevent many buyers entering here.

Best solution would be royalty %, based on reputation (from 85% to 95%, or at least, from 80% to 90%).

After unilaterally forcing us to switch to Hypperwallet (even for those who didn't want to), and now this ... Humm, nothing good will come out of this.
Let the fall of CGTrader begin !

It's not 10%. It's 15% fee. I hope they will change this "democratic" behavior to designers.
